Tool 01

FI Retirement Calculator

Based on the 4% rule and classic FIRE math, this calculator turns your spending, savings and current portfolio into a personalized years-to-freedom timeline.

  • FI number = annual spending × 25
  • Years to FI modeled at 5% real returns
  • Raises automatically with inflation as your income grows

Your FI number

$1,000,000

Savings rate

38%

Years to FIRE

21 yrs

Estimates use the classic FIRE formula (portfolio compounding at your chosen real return until it reaches 25× spending). For illustration only — not financial advice.

You contribute

$130,000

Growth earned

$170,851

Final balance

$300,851

Assumes monthly compounding and consistent contributions. Market returns are never guaranteed — this shows the power of compounding, not a promise.

Tool 02

Compound Interest Calculator

Einstein reportedly called compound interest the eighth wonder of the world. See why: small, consistent contributions turn into life-changing sums over a FIRE timeline.

Tool 03

Retirement Withdrawal Calculator

Entering retirement and wondering how long your nest egg will last? This calculator models year-by-year withdrawals against portfolio growth so you can see exactly when the money runs out — or if it never does.

  • Portfolio longevity — see how many years your money lasts
  • Inflation-adjusted withdrawals — model rising costs over time
  • Compare 4% rule vs. custom withdrawal scenarios

Money lasts

100+ yrs

Withdrawal rate

4.0%

Total withdrawn

$24,291,509

With a $1,000,000 portfolio and $40,000 annual withdrawals (adjusted for inflation), your money is projected to last indefinitely — you can safely withdraw at this rate forever.

Assumes annual withdrawals at the start of each year, portfolio grows at your chosen real return, and withdrawals increase with inflation each year. For illustration only — not financial advice.

How to Use the Military Pension Calculator

1. Select Your Military Component

Choose Active Duty if you are calculating a regular active-duty retirement.

Choose National Guard / Reserve if you are calculating a non-regular Reserve Component retirement.

2. Select Your Retirement System

Choose the retirement system that applies to your military service.

Final Pay generally applies to service members whose initial entry into military service was before September 8, 1980.

High-3 / High-36 generally applies to legacy retirement system members whose initial entry into military service was on or after September 8, 1980.

BRS is the Blended Retirement System. It generally applies to members who first entered military service on or after January 1, 2018, as well as eligible members who elected to opt into BRS.

CSB / REDUX applies only to certain Active Duty members who elected the Career Status Bonus/REDUX retirement option.

3. Enter Your Military Service

Active Duty members should enter their creditable years and months of service.

National Guard and Reserve members should enter their total creditable retirement points.

The calculator converts Reserve retirement points into equivalent years by dividing points by 360.

4. Enter Your Retirement Pay Base

For High-3/High-36 and BRS, enter your estimated average monthly basic pay for your highest 36 months.

For Final Pay, enter your final monthly basic pay.

Only use BASIC PAY. Do not include:

  • BAS
  • Bonuses
  • Special Duty Pay
  • Hazardous Duty Pay
  • Other military allowances

5. Review Your Estimate

The calculator will display your estimated gross monthly pension, annual pension, creditable service and retirement multiplier.

Military Retirement Calculator Disclaimer

This calculator is provided for educational and retirement-planning purposes only. It provides an estimate of potential gross military retired pay and is not an official Department of Defense, DFAS, Department of Veterans Affairs, or U.S. government calculation.

Actual military retired pay may differ because of exact service dates, retirement points, pay history, retirement system, disability retirement provisions, Survivor Benefit Plan elections, taxes, VA disability compensation, concurrent receipt rules, COLA adjustments, REDUX provisions, applicable laws, and other individual circumstances.

National Guard and Reserve members may also have different retirement eligibility dates. Reserve retired pay generally begins at age 60, although qualifying active service may reduce the retirement age in certain circumstances.

Users should verify their retirement information with their military branch, DFAS, or an official Department of Defense retirement calculator before making financial decisions.
